Just like most who posted here, I also think the character of the organization and how it goes about business is important. There are so many makers out there, why not support the ones you admire with your hard-earned money?
This is a primary reason that 9 out of 10 of my purchases are Buck knives. I admire the successful, multi-generational business run by good people with great customer service. I also appreciate the tough business choice of building a new factory in Idaho to lower costs and preserve American jobs, especially when so many makers are rushing to outsource jobs to Asia.

p.s. I find it interesting that some folks refuse to shop at Wal-Mart due to its business practices, then turn around and support knife companies that steal designs or move jobs offshore.
