After seeing Jai's list, and reading some the numbers bandied about. Gotta ask, how much do all these knife collections weigh:eek: ?? Any transportation issues? Maintainance? Matching ties?
Spiraltwista and others, please do not be shy about expanding my question to include your other Kukhris or similiar blades of interest

Kind of an off beat question, but mine weigh (without sheaths or chakmas/kardas) in at a little over 25lbs. Counting other kukris it would be around 31lbs.

Nothing to worry about transportation, I only carry one at a time. As for maintenance, well I oil the blades about once a month and oil the handles about the same.

Next are we going to have a thread that asks if we line all our kukris up in a row how many feet/miles will it come out to be? :D ;)

hmmmmmm.... it weighs alot :)
upkeep? constant ogling and handling forces me to oil often lol.
i just lightly coat the blades with mineral oil or ballistol... whichever was around at the time :D

Sure!! We can then start calculating ratios! Woo Hoo! :D

24oz. jai and i started about the same time. he's since amassed 600 posts and 30lbs of khukri for each one.

No one has ever asked this question before that I remember- a real first.

I don't know the answer. I do have a fire plan though. In case of fire, empty contents of safe on blanket on floor and drag outside. I hope I can drag it. I think I can. Too bad I have to first see to the safe evacuation of the women and children, but what can I do?
The stereo comes after the weapons.

:o yeah... HIKV hit me pretty hard.
regarding an evac plan... ohhh man im stumped on that one
so many other things to worry about... i guess ill just cook with the khuks :(

It's no joke.

My hurricane bug-out bag had just the irreplaceable khuks in it, and I could hardly lift it.

The rest live in the Big Box O'Khuks... can't lift, hard to even slide.

I have no idea what my trunk o' steel weighs when I have it all in there. All I know is that I have an old carpenter's trunk that is nearly full up. 4 padded levels crammed with pretty much just HI stuff. It's on casters so that I can roll it out from under my work bench, but even on wheels it's a chore to pull forward.

here in sf... we worry about quakes.
other than that we (actually i) fear that when society collapses there will be 4million+ people scrambling around not knowing what the f**k to do
but thats a whole'nother topic i dont want to get into now :foot:

Probably enough, once secured in a sturdy sack and tied to my bound body, to carry me swiftly to the bottom of the nearest body of water and keep me there. ;)

I lived & worked in Richmond Calif during the Loma Prieta quake. Wouldn't want a wall of blades dancing off their pegs during that:eek:!

Been through two quakes here since, then my wife (native californian) won't hang anything on the walls. Most of my collection is in a drawer in case of emergency throw in some extra socks and go:)

exactly how i feel aliloff...
imagine having close to 300g of water on the second floor of an old apt. complex in san francisco :foot:
no more fish collecting for me... time for khuks :)

I spent the duration of the Loma Prieta doing the samba with a 55 gallon community tank in our bedroom:eek: Damn, did I get wet!!:o
But I didn't lose any fish, nor did I get eviscerated by breaking tempered glass.
Got Lucky.
Anyway, although I should add it up, my meagre collection is about 20ish lbs.
Bug out? Humans and animals firsr, but The Tarwar has definitely got a reserved space, along with the little Pen. And the D1...

I'm not exactly sure how much my collection weighs, but NOAA once called to inform me that a large mass of carbon steel may have adversely affected the trajectory of a NavSat passing over my house.

I was working at Mare Island Shipyard during the Loma Prieta quake. Got to watch the giant smokestack sway like a willow.

well when the san andreas faultline runs right through you backyard (well almost:) ) you kinda have to watch out for what's going to come down in the middle of the night. can't wait for the next big (or a little big one) one now that everybody's mounting their $4000 flat screen TV to their walls.

LOL! There's a new one. Let me go check. OK, HI: 5315.2 oz., Non-HI: 920.5 oz.

Ain't spreadsheets great? :D I have no intention of moving any of it any time soon though!
