I have came to the conclusion that I might carry a little too much for edc. I caught my self today saying I'm gonna start carrying a zippo but then I said where am I going to put it?
Here's my current edc
- byrd cara cara 2
- case medium stockman
- sak tinker
- chapstick
- vial of asprin
- mini mag-lite
- keys
- phone (HTC EVO)
- wallet

I don't carry anything on a belt because i just don't like stuff to dangle so everything go in pockets generally in my left front and right front pockets with the exception of the wallet which goes in back right pocket, has anyone else had this problem or is it just me? It's driving me insaine

Two words: fanny pack.

Call it a "tactical fanny pack." You'll feel better. Its what I do with my Maxpedition X-Treme Dark Tac Gov Spec Man Purse. :D

Just drop down to 2 knives, carry the asprin in a more carry friendly container, or to best that just carry a small pack of some sort. I dropped my SAK because I didn't really need it when I carry the more compact Leatherman Micra.

My EDC:

Cara Cara 2

Wallet

Leatherman Micra

and whatever else I may need.

I haven't had much issue with carrying too much stuff... You just really need to simplify.

The stuff I keep in my pockets every day:
- Wallet
- Benchmade 1100-7
- Whatever EDC knife I'm going to have.
I also have a Pager (work related) on my belt.

I leave things like chapstick, asprin, tools, etc. in my car. 99% of the time if I need a tool and am not at home or work (to have access to regular tools), I have my car handy.

I was planning on droping one knife and the light because it takes up the whole length of my pocket and the asprin is in a container just a little bigger than the chapstick

I would drop the aspirin wayyy before I dropped the light. A light is handy as sh*t!

What you just listed sounds like too much to me. I carry one knife, my wallet and my phone. How often do you end up using what you carry?

Every thing I have I usually use it everyday with the exception of the light which is why I'm debating on taking it out

I'm just curious about the need for two knives and a multi tool. It seems like either the stockman or the SAK could serve your cutting needs alone. I mean the stockman offers three blades by itself

It does but I don't even use the sak for cutting, I use it for all the other functions, and the stockman is the perfect size to dig splinters out because the cara cara is a little too big for that, and I dig splinters out everyday because I work in a furniture factory

I grew up as a mechanic, it's not unusual to have 5 lbs of crap in my pocket, tools, bolts, parts...

I carry a harmonica... :) can't play worth a damn but I carry one anyway.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with owning a bunch of knives, or even carrying more than one. But if you are wondering if you're carrying too much you probably are.

Look into a smaller light, specially if you don't use it that often. Maybe a pen shaped light, or a small light that can attach to your keys.

What do you use the stockman for? If it's just for a smaller "friendlier" blade to use when you don't want to pull out the Cara Cara, then the SAK will do that too.

Perfectly sane, normal EDC. I'd question your need for any lighter, unless you are smoker...or like to light-up those of the ladies, LOL. You blades can take care of loose threads with less drama then burning them off. The three sizes of knives fills our 'knife-guy' needs, LOL...and truly allows you to have the right blade/tool(SAK) for the job. At least MOST of the time.

I also carry a large OHO, and stockman in the RFP. In my LFP, I carry a two-sided cordura 'wallet', which is really just a pocket on front and back with a common deviding wall. At the front is my OC spray, SAK, and AAA Surefire light. In the back is my cash. I also carry a small pill bottle with screw-on lid. Allergie meds, asprin, etc.

Honestly it sounds like you could leave your Byrd at home. You could also consider giving your SAK blade some exercise

Granted, this is bladeforums and not candlepowerforums, but still. Dude, there are many very powerful, very useful lights that are less than 9 inches long. Seriously.
