How Much Money is on Your Keychain?

After reading the thread about Nutnfancy's review of the Sebenza, I thought about how much cool knives cost at any level. Specifically, I thought about the two Manbugs, Victorinox Mini-Champ, and LED light on my main keychain. All of that gear comes out to slightly less than $130 on one keychain. On my office keychain, I have a very old keychain size Al Mar SERE and a very old Victorinox that has lost its scales. I have had that Al Mar for fifteen years, and forgot what I paid for it. I'll post pictures later.

A little over $100 for me.

• spyderco dragonfly salt serrated
• vic mini-champ
• leatherman style ps
• fenix ld01

When you combine that with usually $200+ in other knives on me, $200-300 sunglasses, $200+ cell phone, etc., high end knives don't seem like too bad of an investment anymore.

zero dollars, I always have a folder cliped in my pocket why would I need a little tiny knife on my keychain

I actually keep an extremely bare minimum on my keychain (I hate big things in my pockets), so I also don't have a knife on there.

Jeep key, jeep clicker, house key.

Out of curiosity, where do you guys with all this stuff on your keychain keep the keychain? Is it still in your pocket, or do you clip it to your belt or something?

wow, some of you have pretty intense keychain EDC's!

Just a SAK classic on mine, ~12 bucks.

Aside from the cars, just the cost of the brass keys.

I've had to surrender 2 knives from my keychain because I forgot to remove them before a flight. Nowadays, I don't bother to put any bladed tool in the keychain.

I'm with Logan. I hate having a large items in my pockets.
Just a car key, car fob, house key, 2 safe keys, and an itp a3 rod on my keychain and I think that's a lot.

Front right pocket for me, my pants aren't typically overly tight and i dont have a lot of keys. I drive a VW so my car key is one of those "switchblade" style key/fobs and I carry only 2 other small brass keys. I kept the pocket clip on the dragonfly so it can be used as a suspension clip. The dragonfly and leatherman style are easily unclipped from my keychain though so I occasionally will go light weight with just the vic mini-champ and fenix ld01 light.

I don't have a knife on my keychain, just a 4seven flashlight ($30). BUT, apparently the BMW key costs $200 to replace:eek:!

I keep my keychain in my pocket. I don't mind a bit of a bulge in my pockets.I love keychain knives, because a little knife on a keychain actually gives me a better purchase or grip than a small folder like a Dragonfly by itself. Both my Spydercos and my Al Mar have substantial blades for their size, and they do a great deal of useful cutting.

If you count the housekey, truck key, & gate key, almost 200k. If not, bout $150ish in this photo, but I've replaced the preon with a beta that was about $175. No knives on my keys though.

Clockwise - Car clicker, work key, home key, micro widgy bar, Spyderco Bug, Fenix E01, Titanium Lanyard bead, and its all on a aircraft mechanic keyring.

All in all probably about $40

Thanks for the response, as I'm honestly wondering how it works. The only people I know with big keychains keep them on the little belt clip and tuck them into their rear pocket, which is a bit "jangly" for me.

My pants aren't overly tight either (just regular or loose fit jeans or the like), but I just don't like the bulge in the pocket or how you can feel them a lot more when you sit down. But hey, to each his own :).

Interesting point about using the extra bulk of the keychain as the "handle" for a little knife, I hadn't thought about that before. Someone gifted me a spyderco bug (not lady, or manbug... the bug, its uber tiny), and maybe I'll throw it on my keychain for a while and see how I like it. Because I'll agree, little knives can still do quite a bit of my EDC needs.

Thanks for answering guys :).

I never understood carrying around 50lbs of worthless junk on your keychain.

I have three keys and a little happy viking bauble from Norway and that's it.

So my keychain probably cost right around one Kroner. :D

My keychain tools come in handy all mof the time. One dramatic case was a time when I had to dry clothes at a laundromat because my dryer had broken down. My youngest locked herself in the laundromat bathroom while no manager was present. I took my Mini-Champ screwdriver and took the lock off of the door, got my daughter out and put the lock back together in ten minutes. I couldn't do that with no tools.

Don't like to put too many eggs in one basket!

My 'T-bar' is a modified $/£ store item. Three house keys and a mailbox key. Carabiner/bottle-opener/torch originally sold for about £15 sterling, but I managed to pick one up in another $/£ store after the company changed their packaging.

I don't like having too much stuff on my keychain, I keep it as small as possible. I've got two keys and a Fenix E01. I hate bulky keychains and using tools with stuff hanging from them.
