it can depend on customs. I once had a custom knife shipped to me (in Canada from the US) it took 24 days to get to me.

Two weeks would be an average for me ( U.S. to Canada ) But remember the holiday season backlog, I would figure any day.

When I have a knife coming from the US and the maker wants to ship in early December, I always state that I would prefer that it waits until early January. If it were me, I wouldn't expect the knife for another week or two.

Some of the time I have had a Canada to US or US to Canada deal take as few as 9 days and as long as 40. Only thing I have learned is to wait for it to get there.

im not sure why it works that way but give it a month and a half
when i ship to the states it always takes a month and when i receive , same thing so be patient as long as you are in contact its all good

Hey Normark,

when i make my border crossing to come after Maker i guess your name is on the list first or will you be sending my money back? how do those personal garantee's go in the land of the north???

Hey Inspecto...

when i make my border crossing to come after Maker i guess your name is on the list first

Not sure what you mean by that....

Am I suppose to take that as some kind of a threat ?

You may want to clarify yourself here...
Cause thats the way I'm taking it right now, and I'm not sure I like the tone this thread is taking....

or will you be sending my money back? how do those personal garantee's go in the land of the north???

If it's the maker I'm thinking of, Yes I personally guarantee his honesty and professionalism.. If he said it was sent on a certain day, thats something I can take to the bank.

And if he Rips you off, I'll personally send you the money back.

Good enough for you ?

Personal guarantees are the same in the north as they are in the south. You need to remember that both Canada Post and Canada Customs are not known for their speed and efficiency. An awful lot of variables could affect the speed of shipment including the carrier your package went with, increased volume over the holidays, and increased screening by US Customs and border security (because of an increase in a perceived threat over the duration of a "Christian" holiday). Give us Canucks the benefit of the doubt and don't go on a rampage until it becomes a completely unreasonable length of time (especially since you've had another member here vouch for the maker and your money). Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Hey Guys...

ND

Thank you..Very well said...

Keep in mind that when the Patroit Act was invoked,, Everything,, and I do mean Everything is looked at more closely by US Customs.. This extra scurtiny adds days to the entire process...

I have shipped knives to American cutomers and the trouble in shipping them has pretty much caused me to get out of the Mora business when I clear out the last of my stock.

It can vary incredibly so patients is the word here. I have shipped multiple packages in the same day and have had a knife reach Californis in less then 2 weeks while it has take over 20 days for a knife to get to Main and 17 to Florida so it can vary incrediibly depending on which office it passes through Buffal sorting stastion beinf the longest on average and the tempermewnt of the inspector.

Good luck withthe knife.

If that's a threat of any kind against Eric (or ANYONE else), I have to let you know that your time here at BladeForums will be coming to an end shortly.:grumpy:.

Hey Dann...

At this point in time, unless he changes his tune real quick,, thats the way I'm taking it,, as a threat.

I have had no contact with this person until my posting in this thread...

BTW,, Thanks

Coming the other way at this time of year from, USA to Canada, a parcel with a fixed blade knife took exactly one month and one day. I decided I would make a ruckus after one month, but left it an extra day. The problem isn't the sellers, or the delivery method, but customs officers clearing every package that goes through them. If the seller marks the item 'Cutlery', you have the chance of a speedier pass-through. Anything that mentions 'knife' will almost certainly result that the package is opened, inspected, re-sealed and sent on it way.

Finally, I will personally guarantee Eric (Normarks) reputation. You will be hard to find a more straight-down-the-line guy and honest guy.

Guys, why is it so hard to ship via Federal Express? I get stuff to Denmark in my guy's hands in 48 hours?

If you are in a hurry, ship via EXPRESS. If not, be PATIENT! Any time I get Kydex from the Great North, I'm either ready to wait or I've given Eric my FedEx number for the shipping return.

And the knives are always marked as CAMPING GEAR or similar.
