How much would you pay for a broken knife

is the blade notch sheered off? back spring broken too, cant tell from pics?

There is a skilled craftsman that can fabricate a replacement spring to spec from that time period, he worked at Buck I hear, would know the correct heat treat and steel composition etc and means and methods. He would tear it down, clean and sharpen and reassemble with a newly made spring. And then I wouldn't try battoning kindling or anything lol just preserve it.

Wow! That’s quite a knife that apparently saw lots of use, but is still in great shape for its age.

What a piece of history. It needs to be preserved. I’m looking forward to seeing it again.

I just noticed the U in BUCK is a horseshoe. I wonder how long Buck did that?

Sorry, I hadn't checked back here.

This is the knife we have been discussing, I have it in my possession now

I’d probably have it cleaned up, made functional again, and then display it.

I realize it’d be neat to get an old 110 in usable condition again, but some of these old knives have earned the right to be retired...they did their job. Especially when you can buy a brand new user so darn cheap, why not just pick up one of them?
