How much would you pay for a custom hand stamp?

I have just started making knives, and as of now have no way to mark em. I got a quote for a hand stamp consisting of 3 letters, 1/4" OAL. They quoted me for $70. Does that sound reasonable? The letters were in a form of script. I guess it depends on whether or not I am going to crank out knives and try to sell em, or go the cheaper route and get the individual punches. What do you guys think? I will give you guys some eye candy tomorrow, my first blade is coming along real nice.

I think I paid over $100 for mine several years ago. Of course I have a 10 letter last name. That's not a bad price in my opinion.

Having used the individual letter punches before, I would spend the extra money for a custom stamp. Its hard to get your letters lined up with individual punches. Alot of guys use a fixture just to keep their custom stamp lined up straight and square to the blade, trying to do individual letters would be nothing but a headache.
It'd be a real shame to work so hard on every knife just to have your mark come out crooked.....

What Matt said, exactly!

Great question I am looking at a custom stamp with three letters as well, let me know how yours works out.

Thanks,
Kye

I got mine from uncle al and an happy with it. You have to use it a bit before the face rounds off and the letters get bold. But one good hammer hit and its nice and clear. It was around 80$

I'd say 70 is a good deal. Remember they have to be machined and heat treated so they are a little pricey for something most would consider a small item.
