I hope nobody had similar experience with our friends on EBay BUT here is an interesting way EBay "protects" sellers.

1. You can buy the most expensive knife you like and can afford.
2. After receiving the knife open the case that knife you received is not what was on picture on a listing and provide pictures of the cheapest knife you have in your collection :)
3. Of course buyer will say you are wrong, etc and will upload pictures of the knife he sold to you into the case "pictures".
4. Most likely buyer will request the return and will ship the "bad" knife back to the seller.

After receiving the knife Seller of course will take pictures and upload them to the case again with the explanation..

NOW interesting part - seller will call the EBAy Customer service for help AND per Customer service - because BUYER and SELLER uploaded the same pictures and have the same complain EBAY will resolve the case to the buyers interest and will take money form Seller and send them to Buyer!

RESULT: Buyer has a nice knife and money back! Seller lost the knife AND money! Per EBAy customer service BUYER can do it once because two times is a pattern and case will not be resolved to the buyers interest. So anybody can do it once in a life time :(

Of course you all understand that BUYER is a thief in this situation and nobody from you gentlemen will do anything like that BUT unfortunately I was a SELLER in this story and lost the item and money.

EBAY support was not helpful at all...

Did anybody has any story like that to share?

Got hit like that twice on coins...once the buyer even PM'ed me through eBay offering to split the difference on a $1,200.00 set that they said they only got the box with no coins and I told them to pound sand and eBay found for the buyer and hit me for $1,200.00! How many times have you paid $1,200.00 for something and not received it but offered to split the difference???? Through the friggin eBay system no less!

Sorry to hear that this happened to you! I've had my share of problem people on ebay. Fortunately they have been few and I have never been outright scammed (knocks on wood). If anyone sells on ebay, make sure to use the "blocked bidders" feature. Only a few on my list are from actual transactions I've had, a majority come from people who just rubbed me the wrong way when asking questions about my listing.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but I wonder if ebay would have ruled differently if you had called customer service before the other guy when the dispute was first opened?
