How NOT to design a $499 pen.....

No dog in this fight as I don't own any Microtechs or any T.Marifone product, but JFC this thing is ugly and cumbersome (says the guy who has to twist off the cap of his everyday carry pen to write with it).

I know these types of things are a relatively new niche market, but what's with the carbon fiber opening mechanism? It looks like a tail hanging off the end of an artillery bullet when opened.

Any takers for a tactical quill pen? :D

Yeah, for that price you can get a Nakaya or a Pelikan M800 with a custom grind. This doesn't even look practical.

At least the background music matched the mechanism. Both were annoyingly intrusive and unnecessary.

Did I pick one up? Yes I did(I work for a distributor)....did I sell a couple to customers?....Yes. We have 10 pre-sold of 30....they are making maybe 200 of these.

It's interesting, different, and not nearly $499.00 Dealer cost.

I think it's $100 cool, but not $500 cool! I work in a nasty environment, so one handed would come in handy, but am I the only one who feels they figured out how to "wave" a pen?

Wow. You are not kidding. Turn off your speakers before starting that video.

And as for the pen, the carbon fiber seems to me to clash with the titanium body; it just doesn't look good the me at all.

The good, old-fashined retractible ballpoint pen with the button on the end is quite one-hand-operable. It seems to me that they're grasping at elaborate ways to solve a problem that was solved quite nicely about 70 years ago.

I would say it's pretty, but it's not. Seems like a lot of unnecessary movement for something that is a fancy clicky pen, for an exorbitantly high price point. Parker Jotter, anyone?

I'm good with my S/S Benchmade...thanks...if I wanted to throw money at a pen I would have bought the Damasteel version and still had enough left over for a very nice dinner/drinks with my wife...which she'd need after watching me spend $200 on a pen...

Yeah, I totally agree. I was just tryin' to be nice. I'm sure it's perfect for someone with a lot more disposable income than I!

it makes sense to me.
why buy a custom knife when a production does the same thing.
why buy a rolex when a timex tells you the same thing
same with cars or whatever else you want to talk about.
craftsmanship and design its cool
its a option that is certainly not for everyone.

There is a significant difference between your comparisons and a pen...just saying. A Rolex is significantly better than a Timex. I can show you the money in a Rolex...show me the money in that pen...Im not saying its not nice...I'm saying its not worth anywhere near $500

You mean you lifted one off the table, or you purchased one ?

The ultimate "answer to the question nobody asked" - I just don't see a point at all.

It is not even "neat", just unwieldy and the design does not appear to be for ease of use or anything functional.

And for the price of a glock and a bottle of jack?

best

I really hope it would AT LEAST take fisher space pen refills.. that would be its one minuscule shred of hope. the one in the video looked like the ones you get in the packs of 50 from an office supply store.

an expensive pen using cheap ink cartridge?

hold on, im gunna go buy a new custom knife and sharpen it on a brick.

All things aside, it is a cool design.

in fact i have bought one for cool design.still waiting for delivery.
and i search youtube ,found this:Monkey Edge TV: Quick Look at the Marfione Custom Microtech Pen
just for play
