• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

How often and how far

I hike every couple of months with my son and his friends 15-25 km a day ,it is hot around here so by spring Ill be carrying 5 liters of water.Add that to a basic pack +20 meters of 0.5 rope and things get pretty heavy .This year I made them(16 year olds) pull their own weight so my pack lighter - rope-1ST aid etc. I also hike every week as part of A guide course, I carry far more than most and if anyone needs anything from binoculars to ass wipes they come to me .

Forgot to add in my initial post that I carry a shoulder bag with essentials and it weighs almost 6# with water.

Sasha, a nine lb. weight loss, dang be careful - I can believe it w/ the heat we've been having in Socal for the past two summers. My little whistle thermometer thingy has indicated 107 degrees several times, but I go into denial and tell myself the thing is defective. It helps me get through. Oh and I used to trail run, now I'm definitely a trail snail jogger. Walking hurts my feet.:D
Getahl, we must live parallel lives as I too am in Ventura (T.O.), just got married last week and have weights and a stairmaster in the other room. Good luck w/ the house and to both of us new husbands.;)
