How often do you cut yourself?

whole finger is still numb and they said it probablly wont come back oh well at least it moves.]

it's not gonna come back, i know from experience, i had brain surgery a couple months back and my entire scalp is like that :/

i sliced my hand open with a chisel yesterday breaking the scales on a crappy old knife that i wanted to re-shape. i'm not finished on it yet, i can't seem to drill another hole through the tang (steel too hard) for the pin (is there a proper name?) that goes through the scales.
should look alright when i'm done though, for my first knife.
first post!

Yup...had a rather bad Hissatsu cut a while back...really dumb.

All healed up now, but absolutely zero feeling above the wound line. I find it fairly annoying, and when I asked about the chances of getting any sensitivity back the doc just smiled and said I should not count on it too much.

Gee it's been ages since I was on this site! I happened to cut my hand six weeks ago, see picture below. After a two hour drive to hospital I ended up having a general anaesthetic and some nerve surgery. I can't feel much down one side of my finger, but the feeling seems to be returning very slowly - it can take YEARS before you get full feeling back. I'm just happy I can still move my finger properly

Incidentally I once cut my hand badly in Africa whilst I had the engine of our car in pieces, meaning I couldn't get to a hospital for a few days. As a former army medic I was kinda happy because I thought it was a great opportunity to do some self-surgery! I opened up my comprehensive med kit and set to work, but I had no lidocaine...It was a total fiasco; I didn't have small enough sutures in my med kit to do delicate finger suturing, I was one handed and frankly it hurt like hell! (Lots of nerves in them thar fingers). I was unable to put the engine back together in a timely manner, my suturing attempts were pathetically unsuccessful, and because of the nature of finger injuries super-glue just wouldn't hold it. So I ended up just dousing it with antiseptic, dressing the wound, splinting it to stop it opening and putting myself on a course of antibiotics. Healed quite well, but putting that engine back together was extremely frustrating! Moral of story is to carry suitable small sutures in your med kit and PSK.

I get nicked now and then, but I have a deal with my sister. I get stitches, she gets the riches. Whatever knife I get cut with that requires stitches, she gets the knife. I lost a nice Grohmann to her, but thats all so far. I slipped it into its sheath and it was so sharp I didn't know I was even cut. I walked across the room, turned around and the bed I was sitting on was coated with blood.

wolfmother, that's rediculous. gives me the willies just looking at it.

here's a blurry pic of mine, followed by shortly after arriving home from the hospital, after stitch removal, and finally 4 weeks later.

to answer the question though, quite often. this was the worst i can remember, but little ones all the time.
