How Often does Busse sell New Blades?

It is never fixed, I have been doing this about 4 years and it seemed you saw (pre-Op2W) a new blade offered on the website once a year or so and then special short offering of leftover from shows a few times a year. Busses have NEVER been more available than at the moment.

Yep, operation 2 weeks has been amazing. Also, keep in mind that there's a long wait period after you place your order before you will actually get your knife in hand.

The wait is worth it, though.

I would say more like every few months. The AALB and TGLB were up for a really long time, and the "11" series in the yard goes all the way back to 2011, but generally I think most designs were available to order from maybe a week to 6 months. It was probably more models too because the company store had additional models for sale

After 10 years here, I can tell you that there is no normal. Things change, continually.

As Dave Brown pointed out in another thread, O2W has been nothing short of amazing, with more new knives than has ever been offered in such a short time frame. And the ride is about to start up again. You best jump on. As far as we can tell, O2W is the current business model, so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Until things change again. But no one knows when. Welcome to the Busseverse, an alternate reality.

I'm really hoping the re-start knocks my socks off!

There used to be Busse and also Custom Shop offerings

I've been here over a year and can say there is no pattern. All I can say for sure is....everything that comes out is awesome.

Not counting operation two weeks, does Busse sell new blades each month only?

Yeah, it's kind of strange to me how they do it.
If a newbie was to visit their company website, it would appear that the company is virtually inoperative, with all products listed as "NO LONGER AVAILABLE."

There is nothing on their home page about how to sign up for the email blasts and Op2W, not even a word.

But in reality, the company has been making more blades than ever, with fresh new styles and retro-redux designs coming out weekly; sometimes 2 or 3 at a time, or more. People get the e-blasts, they quickly place their orders and in a few days, the offers are ended. This forum is also used to create a buzz and promote the new offers, so that makes it fun for the fans.

Not exactly "conventional" marketing, but Busse is offering limited production runs of a very unique hand-made in the USA product, so they are not exactly a conventional operation.

Funny you say that. In another group someone asked me if Busse was even still making knives since everything on the website said unavailable. So I went on to explain OP2W to them

Funny, Busse are what brought me to the forums. But it took years to buy my first. Back then, it was a real mystery. No new models ever on the website!

What's interesting that O2W's popularity and improved or same speed of delivery indicate that Busse might have increased its manufacturing capacity.
If it's long term there'll be more to see in the future since machines and personal would be there anyways.
If it's short term then I'm wondering what people and machines are being used currently. Maybe everybody is working double shifts and having a bit less fire water? :-p

By the way, when operation two weeks begin again, how long does this special selling period usually last?

Most of them were about 3 days. They went up Wednesday night and usually came down Friday night or Saturday.

My own guess is that Busse used to make a lot of orders for military units. Now that the US military is less busy and shrinking, that business has gone away. So Busse had excess capacity that is now available for O2W.

If you guys go to Swamp Rat site, they have knives available. Have had for at least a month!

It seems almost like it is too often when I'm broke and not often enough when I am not. :p

umm ... I see a "JOIN OUR NEWSLETTER" right there....
Yeah, but "Join our newsletter" doesn't really communicate squat about what they are doing. I guess if that said something about actually ordering their new products via the weekly email blasts and Op2W, you might have a point.

huh, I get email notices that ordering a new knife is now live, and then other notices about how orders are about to close. You don't get those?
