In the last 10 years, I've lost one knife three years ago. Like a fart in the wind, it was just gone. It was a CRKT Stubby Razel and I bought it on a whim as a beater/ knife/ chisel/ digging tool/ boot picker. It didn't cost much and I didn't care about it but I'm still stumped about where I lost it. I carry far more expensive knives daily and don't think about losing them often but it still occasionally crosses my mind.

My wife, on the other hand has lost both of the two knives I have bestowed upon her. Amazingly, both have been founds. The first, a Spyderco Wayne Goddard Jr. was lost two years ago and was rediscovered in a Camelback she had worn on a ski trip. The second was a Spyderco Sage 2. I'm not sure how long it was missing because she won't tell me how long she couldn't find it. I found it in an old jacket of mine the she wore at some point when she went to feed livestock. Somehow, both knives were found on the same day.

The main question I have is, if ever, how often have you lost a knife? The secondary question is, have you recovered your lost knife?

About a year and a half ago I lost a gerber (don't even remember the name). Don't hate me too much! This was before I got into quality knives ;P that's the only knife i've ever lost. Kind of wish I had it back though because it went on a special trip with me and served me pretty well.

I lost my Three Sisters Forge Beast about 6-8 months ago. It had Elmax steel and the presentation side of the knife was plane, not like the others. It was the only extra one he had with a spear point. I was helping a buddy re pipe his house on piers. I looked and looked for that knife, but to no avail. I'm still saddened over the loss. Haven't given up though, when the ground dries up, I'm going back under for another search.

I have never lost a knife (though I probably will from this thread via 'murphy's law'). I have had 2 knives stolen from me.

Crkt m16 and s&w swat, probably 10 years ago.

Lost a Gen 1 endura many years ago playing with my girlfriend at the times kids in a park. Then, about 3 years ago, lost a Kershaw leek. Searched and searched cause I knew I set it on the counter. I remembered doing it. Weeks past, I bought another. Months past and my stepson found it in the pen cup on the counter where I had set it. No clue how it got in there.

I've been lucky (and careful) so I've only lost two SAKs so far. The first one more than twenty years ago while horseback riding, the second one a couple of years ago. After I lost the first one I began to put tethers on all my SAKs and folders that I used outdoors, I ride a lot and the mountains around my ranch make for a bumpy road.

I almost lost my Pacific Salt in a weird way on the bus. I was walking to the door to get off at the next stop, brushed against somebody (rush hour, the bus was packed) and the clip was caught on the guy's bag strap and came out of my pocket. Luckily, I noticed it and recovered it quickly.

Only knife I ever lost was a Esee Izula... It vanished one day, and I haven't the foggiest idea how or why.

I've lost a few over the years but the most notable was a four or five years ago, I had a black coated Kershaw Scallion and I lost it somewhere...bout 5 months later after winter had passed my buddy found it lodged in the ground once the snow melted right in front of his house. It had absolutely no rust on it, however the a/o was pretty much shot and I hadn't had the knowledge at that point to open it up and clean it...I let him keep it at that point and to my knowledge he used the hell out of it and enjoyed it very much still.

You're better off without them, brother. That m16 was a disaster waiting to happen, and no knife [stamped strikethru] painted s&w is ever going to do you any favors. I almost feel like an Asian style gyuto is more your thing.

Last year I goofed and left my SAK Super Tinker in my checked bag leaving Aruba. They took it at Customs

I completely forgot my CRKT! If it counts, I technically did lose it. My ex still has it and it's been 10 months since i've talked to her :p

I've only ever lost one knife, and it ended up having been lost in a friend's car. They found it after they moved out of state. It was a small inexpensive knife, so I didn't mind other than being irked that I lost it in the first place, and I told them to just keep it. Wasn't worth the postage to send it back since by the time it turned up it was, like, a year later and I had bought another one.

SO far I have done fairly good, but you never know. Usually if I lose own I will go back to where I though I lost it and find it. I lost one in a dumpster once and found it. When I threw the trash bags in, the pocket clips cut through the plastic and went with the bag. I could not find it for quite awhile and then I checked the dumpster and it was clipped onto the bag.

I had to stop buying Sog Twitch II's. I've been through five. Two I gave away, three lost from refusing to accept that they won't stay clipped in my back left pocket. :/

I whent on a deep sea fishing trip last year. and hit some bad weather . I whent over bourd and when i got back on the boat my sak had gone . Up till then i had.nt lost one from being a young kid . I hope davey jones is keeping it well oiled lol

Lost a Kershaw RJ I for awhile that i thought i lost while target shooting but later found in my livingroom. I can foresee the future and it tells me the first knife I will ever lose will be while being overly intoxicated.:D. That's the only time I'd be worried about losing a knife so carry cheaper ones while drinking or moving through woods alot.

It's been a long time, I said 20 years, I don't lose the knives they're just MIA, I've found knives that were misplaced 6 years later, I found 2 of my Old Man's knives that were missing since 78, I found them 2 years ago, what's that, like 34 years later, they were in an old tool box the old man kept with his gun and hunting tools.

See, so I never give up hope, I have a small traditional David Winston folder that's been MIA for going on 8 years, I'm still not giving up hope. We threw out a sofa before the holidays, my wife thought I was nuts, I sliced up all the cushions, I sawzalled the entire frame into little pieces, when I was done the sofa for into 3 lawn and leaf bags, I can guarantee that there was no knife in that sofa. :)

I used to lose knives all the time. So I stopped carrying one. That solved the problem, except when I needed to cut something. Plus it started a whole new problem, I continued to buy knives even though I didn't need a replacement, leading to a very large Accumulation/Collection. OK, that last part's not really a problem. ;)

Now I often carry a pocketknife, but not without a lanyard. :)
