How old is this 110?

Haebbie,

You are right, the Dymondwood is dyed laminated birch. However, they have used some solid and laminated obeche occasionally in the past.

Well, that is not quite true. Yes most Dymondwood is birch but can be made from ANY wood. For example, our current 110's are really Macassar Ebony Dymondwood. While the top laminate layers really are Macassar Ebony species, I wonder if the lower filler layers may still be birch. There are several models using walnut and I have recently purchased a limted edition 301 that has Oak Dymondwood handles. Buck doesn't help much with the differentiation because it is often difficult to tell if the description is the Birch dye color or the actual wood species. Terms like Rosewood, Cocobola, and Heritage Walnut are Birch dye colors, not wood species.

Thanks for the clarification, DeSoto. I should have said that most, but not all, Dymondwood is dyed laminated birch.
