How Old Is Your Oldest Knife?

The knife that I have the longest is an old diving knife I bought when I was in college, about 33 years ago (Damn, that makes me feel old!). My oldest knives are a Persian knife and a mohel's blade, both from the 1700s.

My oldest knives are two Negrito bolos that my father bought in the Phillipines in 1964 just before he went to Vietnam. My oldest personal knives are an Imperial fixed blade camp knife my Mother gave me in 1967 and a Solingen made bowie my father gave me in 1968. The bowie was constant companion as a boy exploring the woods. I feel sorry for kids nowadays. If a kid were seen with a large bowie like that today, it would get confiscated even if the kid were clearly in the forest hiking.

The average age of my collection is 38.2 years. It includes a Valor brand trapper I was given in 1972, as well as a Scottish dirk dated to 1823 that I purchased as a kid.
