Digging around my sock drawer and found my Military at the bottom of it. 440v, abolone inlay(I think) with finger grips, MILITARY in large letters on blade. Can't post a pic but the thing is pretty mint. Any ideas? keepem sharp and thanks: :D

The only one I remember with the Spydie inlaid was the forum model. Don't know aboiut the finger grips though. If the forum one, it's pretty rare. Paul has a picture of one under his forum knives link http://paulberetta.com/

Well I am the second owner of this fine knife. The hand grips if I remember the fella sent it in to the factory and hand them done as is my understanding. Ya know what is interesting is that although a nested liner lock try as I might to compress the g10 it is just about impossible to do so with the blade deployed. I mean stiff as hell for handle material which flips me out even with the scultped handles. keepem sharp

It sounds very much like someone had that Military customized. Spyderco does not do that type of work, or rather, the only examples of it I have seen were on presentation pieces done for Sal Glesser and handed out by him as gifts. I'd tend to bet on some outside individual or shop doing the work. If you're the same gent that emailed me regarding this knife, email me a photo and I'll post it here and on the Spyderco factory forum. Perhaps someone can ID the customizer, or Sal can chime in and say I'm wrong and it was done at the factory. :D

Does the Military look anything like the one in this pic? That's the 2000 forum knife.

I remember this knife or one like it being sold a few years ago.
It had inlay around the pivot area and sculpted scales.
IIRC they were saying that it was factory but it was done by an employee for himself. That makes it one of a kind but still sort of an after market custom job.
Value IMHO would not be much higher than a regular Military.
