and I just took it apart being the curious creature I am. What do you guys think of the locking mechanism?

Can't get that video to work for me and that 1 pic while okay, doesn't offer much detail. Caged bearing system? More pics?

The GT knives have caught my attention too, despite not being a big name. I think.

What's your opinion as to the knife?

Essentially you press the button and the two edges go down and there's an intent in the blade where they lock into place. I hope I explained that well enough!

How's the lockup when it's put together? That's interesting and not something I've seen before.

It's a variation on a button lock, basically. Having never handled (or even seen) one before, I can't even guess at whether it's stronger or weaker than a traditional button lock. Very interesting design, though, for sure.

Oh, it's a button lock.

I have a knife that uses a similar button lock: Tekna Hidden Edge. It's a pretty old knife but it's still works great. Always wondered what it looked like inside. The Tekna can't be disassembled. It used to flick open like butter, back in the days when folders couldn't be flicked open. Not so much anymore. Opens easily enough and locks up great, no wiggle still.

The GT autos are supposed to be fairly robust.

Looking at it, those locking pins are very tiny for the length of that blade, it may work ok as a lock to hold the blade open but I don't foresee it being able to take much if any abuse. It's certainly a novel concept.

Are the sides of the indentations beveled? I wouldn't be concerned with lock strength, but I do wonder about how it'll wear.

With the lock being so close to the pivot there is a great deal of leverage being applied by the blade and a significant shear force the lock pins have to endure. I doubt it's "unsafe" but I would not be surprised that any significant force applied to the lock would result in some form of lock damage.

Lock many be great for play knives and or show pieces, real world long term use I don't see it holding up.

hey pal! looks pretty tough to my eyes. never had seen that before but I like the looks of it much! have a good one
