How sharp did your Busses come from the factory?

I've had a range of degrees of sharpness too. I'm ok with that. In most cases when I get a Busse that isn't very sharp it's the result of a wire edge that hasn't been knocked off. Scrape it off then strop and it's GTG.

All of the above.

On the other hand, last time I complained and sent 10 new knives back in to touch up Jerry sent me a free Factory loaded variable tension Strop and told me to use it if I have any more that do not quite do it for me.

I only got one, the Shiva Rex. It couldn't (still can't cause I won't sharpen in) cut paper no matter how hard I tried. But i'm not too worried about it, if I had a problem I know the great customer service would do whatever it takes to fix it

Pretty much all of them were hair shaving sharp. I have had a couple that were just shy of shaving, but a couple strops on a stick and they were fine.

The assymetricals and the zeros have always had the best sharpened edges in my experience:thumbup:

All of the above! Whatever though, get some beer, get a belt sander and get busy.:p

A couple were "normal" sharp, the rest were hair-popping sharp. My BM-E was hair popping, I cut down a 25 foot aspen tree, and used it for all the limbing and some of the bucking. When I got done it would still shave arm hair, but didn't "pop" them. I gave it 5 strokes with a ceramic stick, and it was back to popping.

Good enough for me!

In the past almost always hair splitting...more recently a toss up between shaving sharp and not as sharp as I would like (nor as sharp as I know the Busse crew is capable of).

I've purchased several Busses directly from Busse Combat and the Busse Company Store and the ONLY one that wasn't as sharp as I would have liked was the very first Cultellus offerring. Two minutes on my edge pro and now it is my sharpest, mirror finished edge I own.

had 2, handled 3. 2 were dull, one was shaving sharp.

I don't agree that it's ok for knives to be "working edge" sharp. Knives should be shaving sharp, especially at that price. Spyderco does it, why can't Busse.

oh, and don't get me wrong, I LOVE INFI.

My Comp finishes were hair-popping sharp, as was every used knife I've gotten. The others arrived in lesser degrees, but became hair-popping with a couple of swipes on a croc stick and a strop.

I am seldom happy with a factory edge, but the Comp finishes were perfect. The only edge that has beaten those was on a Krein re-ground Bud Nealy I recently received. Sharpest knife I have ever seen:)
