How strong is DLC? Protech is pretty good

So the day after I got my new tr3 a buddy of mine is looking at it comparing it to his auto. he opens the tr3 right into the Benchmade whacking the spine of the knife on to steel. It made a nice mark. Now normally I would freak out but this knife is supposed to be a user and getting me over not having a safe Queen so I'm going to get over it.

I however hit it a bit wth CLP to clean up the mark little and was shocked when I looked at the results. It was almost entirely cleaned up! It's like my knife grabbed his knife and took some with it. Whats left yes is a tiny molecular scratch but almost nothing. I'm impressed with this coating for sure! Now to add some more use!

Yup. Go cut a can with your knife. It will look thrashed. A little oil and you realize it is the can that got the thrashing ;)

I've spoke with Protech, who also said there are varying levels of quality for the DLC process, they also said candidly that Microtech and Protech use the best type possible, and that it's not cheap to do. Even the pocket clips get the coating from Protech.

There's a well done YouTube video done by a knife maker, who tested four types of blade coatings on identical knifes. DLC was hands down the winner.

Naturally, I cannot find the video now.
