How thin is too thin pre heattreat?

Read the stickies at the top of the main page. There is a ton of great info in them like the answer to your question. Stainless can be taken thinner than carbon. I stay above .025" on both. Are you doing the heat treat and what kind of steel are you working with?

I'm gonna heat treat myself. I've yet to build my forge though. And I'm using 1084.

I would stay at .030" if your doing it yourself. If it's already too thin just knock it back before you heat treat it.

It's at .030ish. I'll probably grind it down just a hair more to be safe though. Thanks Matt
