Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. I've run into a few characters like him over the years, and while you might think they're full of @#$@, they generally are so likeable and fun to talk to, you have a smile on your face and end up liking them, even if you completely disagree with them. I guess that's a true salesman! :D

Yep. I've met a few myself, and remembering them still makes me smile. I often didn't agree with what they had to say, but they were so damn likable that I listened to them anyway. Actually learned a few things from them, too, once I applied the proverbial grain of salt to much of what they were saying.
 
There's a lot to be said for knives cheap, light, simple and tough.

Yep. I think that — since we're aficionados — we often forget that there are many less expensive, less attractive, knives that are not only serviceable, but are actually very good knives in their own right.
