How to carry Benchmade Mini Griptilian safely?

I've never had a knife open on me in pocket, clip or not. The axis locks have a nice detent, as others have said you should be fine. I have a 530, grip and mini grip and none have caused problems.

If a tip up knife is carried against the seam, it can't open.

I take your point, and many agree. But, stuff happens and it may not stay against the seam, so its more in the not likely category than "cannot"

Add in the fact that the Axis Lock has a bias for closing and there is nothing to worry about.

That may be even more important, greatly reducing the chances of it accidentally opening and staying open.

Lot of variables here, like is the knife alone in that pocket or is junk flopping around that could push on the axis lock.
I've always felt Murphy was an optimist.

At any rate, I prefer tip down carry and there are those with lots more experience than me who say its the only safe way.
I'd guess with proper attention to the tool, either will work "most" of the time ;).

I EDC one every day. It isn't going to open, just carry it for a few months. And I have to ask: what's the point of a one-hand-opening knife if you need two hands to open it?

It won't open in your pocket. The Axis lock is secure. To test this, I even just put my Adamas in my pocket and jumped and shook violently. Stayed shut. Tried it with my Mini Onslaught. Stayed shut. Tried it with my Ares, it also stayed shut...

Interesting typo...;) (Removed--joke no longer valid. :()

It will not open up in your pocket; been carrying a Griptilian EDC for over 10 years so far never happened to me.

I have never had an Axis lock knife accidentally deploy. I think the only way this is likely to happen is if it has a busted omega spring, in which case it is in need of repair anyway. Good choice for an entry EDC knife!

- The only tip down knife I carried for an extended period of time was the Benchmade Aphid. I'm not sure what happened, but when I reached in my pocket to grab my keys, I pulled my hand out and was spiked by the blade of my knife. It somehow partially deployed in my pocket. I've haven't carried a tip down knife since and I never will again.

I was carrying a Benchmade Bedlam in my back right pocket so the blade opened away from the seam. I reached in and cut myself pretty good, pointy knife I tell you what. Not sure why it opened up.

Know how easy-opening your Mini Grip feels?
Multiply that by 10 and you get the Adamas.
It's heavy blade basically opens itself.
Ive carried an Adamas ALOT doing all sorts of things. Running, hiking, hunting, biking etc.
Never once opened.

I carry tip up and the spine away from the seam. All the "wrong" things. Lol. And I've never had a pocket knife come open in my pocket. Not Benchmade, Kershaw, ZT, Spyderco, Buck, Cold steel.... you get the idea.

The only accident I've ever had was with a cheap balisong coming open in my back pocket. It got me pretty good.

It is shocking to read about mini grips attacking their owners. I feed mine regularly and give it plenty of attention and love. No problems so far.

This reminds me of the
Is Fire Steel bad for your health thread.

Pointless

Carried a Grip and MiniGrip for years; in pouches, backpacks, paper bags, clipped to all sorts of places bot wet and dry. No accidental openings ever. Carry it with no worries.

Is this thread for real? I participate in a bunch of gun forums and was away for a while when my second child was born. When I came back they had added a "ask the expert" sub forum and as a joke all the threads were really insane questions even a noob wouldn't ask.
