Does anyone have a suggestion on catagorizing a knife collection? Spreadsheet or otherwise? I did not find anything in the FAQ's.

I keep a spreadsheet and categorize by multitool, folding knife and fixed knife, and then break it down between small, medium and large depending on handle and/or blade length. Helps me see where I might be accumulating stuff I'm not using or when I have knives or tools that really overlap each other and not necessarily needed.

I just keep a list in Word i.e.

Endura (‘98 FRN W/ CLIP BLK AUS-8 PE Saber)
Endura (‘04 SS ATS-55 CE Saber) Mod by Me
Endura (‘04 FRN BLK ATS-55 CE Saber)
Endurahawk (‘XX FRN BLK VG-10 SE Hawksbill) Rare Spyderhawk mishandle
Delica (‘05 FRN BLK VG-10 PE Saber) Gift
Delica 4 (‘06 FRN BLK VG-10 CE)
Delica 4 wave (‘XX FRN NAVY VG-10 PE)
Civilian (‘05 G-10 BLK VG-10 SE RecurveHawkbill) w/ case and info

Thanks to all for responding.

I am thinking about using MicroSoft Access to develop a database for my knife collection. It would have a lot number to sort, manufacturer/knifemaker, type, model name/number, condition, serial number if any, handle material, etc. This is the type of database I was looking for. Hoping someone had already developed something like this. Any reccomendation?
