If you need gas mask for OC, Pepper, radiation fallout particles, what would you choose on a budget?
What to look for in a gas mask and how to find the quality ones from all the stuff sold online?

Noxious stuff, a good mask for painters, brake repair places, and similar is reasonably cost effective.

When you start looking for NBC masks, the price of admission starts at ~$300USD. Avoid the old stock and cheap imports like the plague. Surplus gas mask canisters have been known to contain harmful particles that dislodge over time with basic handling.

Thwt is not a recipe for survival if you ask me. Thwt is the equivalent of wanting to buy a boat for sailing with minimal holes in the cardboard hull. ;) you would need a lot more than a mask to survive radioactive fallout. If OC penetrates into the filter media, you'd be breathing concentrated OC juice fumes.

Fit is the most important thing, and there are piles of civilian models of mask that have great features. your basic canisters are HEPA (N95) small particulate good for most biological and particle stuff (concrete dust sucks) VOC (Volatile organic vapor) most of the gasses would be covered by this, and you can get various others, and combi canisters. However no cartridge will help you with atmospheric problems. ie, Lack of oxygen, CO2, or CO, H2S, high nitrogen levels. Also, depending on whats going on, a full mask may just single you out for greater attention (riot situation) in which case hope you brought a cup, because the gas mask won't help with a ferret round to the nads.
