This small, major factor in customizing production knives has prevented me from working on so many of folders. It has been driving me up the wall for ages now. Gets to me even worse when I look at other mid-tech knvies. So how does one recess a screw on a folding knife? Does it require a drill press? Can I use a hand drill? Do they make counter sinking bits small enough for the screws used in folders? Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Just realized this falls under more the tinkering and embelishment forums (slap to head). Oh well, sorry guys, but too late to change

Unless you have SUPER steady hands by all means, use a drill press. You are only going to "countersink" with machine head type screws. With button head type screws you are going to "counter bore". Check out knife supply websites. You can even use an end mill bit

Thank you, much appreciated. I guess I can look on Craigslist for a used drill press, or I'll buy new
