What is the best way to cut the sawback serrations on the back of a blade? Any tool out there work the best? Thanks.

I have made a few hidden tang saws and regular saws. All you need to cut saw teeth is a triangle file and a scrap of carbon steel that has been hardened.

The jig is nothing more then a 3/16" scrap of 1095 or 84. I heated the edge to CT with a MAPP torch, water quenched it and did not temper it. 1/4" would be better but I did not have any at the time.

I made the first tooth 1/8" inch from point to point. Then the jig is un-clamped and slide over 1/8" and the process repeated. I darkened the edge of the saw blade with a black sharpie and then filed the tooth until the black disapears. That allows you to see when to stop filing better.

The last couple teeth need to be done free hand since there is no room left to clamp the jig.
