I just picked up a used spyderco military for the cheap. It has orange g10 scales, so to add a touch of personalization, I wanted to dye or color the scales black in a tiger stripe pattern. The big question is, how do I do it? Should I do it myself with no experience or should I ship it off to someone that actually knows what their doing? But I would prefer to do it myself. If anyone has any advice that would be great!

I'm not sure you can successfully dye G-10 since it is unlikely to absorb any dye. If you want custom scales there are providers of that in the services area I believe.

You could buy orange and black G10 sheets or sticks and laminate them together laterally, then shape. Not sure exactly how that would turn out... probably too geometrical to produce 'tiger'. There also exist black/orange G10 in alternating layers (1x1 or 2x2) that will give a neat pattern when shaped, but certainly will not look like anything from the animal kingdom.

to do a tiger stripe you need a two- or multi coloured, layered kind of G10 to start out with
It'll be a nice weekend project if you have some tools and enjoy using them
