It is linen cloth micarta with polyester resin. Should i sand it and oil it to pop out colour, or leave it rough with texture. It have dome holes because it is wraped around the tang. Ps. Is someone puting some sort of invisible coating on micarta handles? Inviseble email

Good. If the overall handle contour is exactly how you want it. Then merely sand it finer, not using a hard backing like sanding block. Until it feels right for you. Then oil it with mineral oil. What is the blade steel you used? DM

i'm about to finish some micarta handles myself,i have always heard using mineral oil does a good job after a nice sanding job.

Linen micarta is usually polished. I thought they sanded it with very fine grit sandpaper then used some polishing compound on a buffer. Canvas micarta is usually left rough for better grip, and I think it is sometimes bead blasted after shaping. I have not heard of putting oil on micarta and would think that could make it slick. I have heard of using wax though.

First- that's not real Micarta. It's home made, sometimes called mycarta.
It can be sanded, or sanded and polished.
Oil does nothing but darken it. Paste wax will do the same thing.
