How to finish micarta?

I just finished rough shaping my first set of micarta scales. I used a really cool dark green from Jantz. My question is if there is a way to pretty them up as best as possible?
Right now they are shaped well, but vary from green to whitish in areas. Can I make it more consistent?

The white is probably the edges of the linen showing through, you can make them less visable by sanding with finer grits. If it is the same green I have used you can sand to 600 or so and then buff, need to use a clean buffer with white compound to prevent darkening the white linen. Otherwise sand to 1000 and hand buff a bit.

I have no experience with the micarta scales you are using from Jantz, but with my stuff I use Equaline mineral oil USP that is orderless, tasteless, and colorless, this brings the color right back out..

Used Norton Blaze 80 grit in the 1st pic, 2nd pic a few swipes on a 220 grit belt then with a light coat mineral oil on them

Polish with stainless compound or tripoli on a slow buffer. Use a loose cotton buff.
Then paste wax.
Or, you can just squirt them with WD 40.

Can anyone post up a before and after pic of the micarta with WD-40 used on it? I dont recall ever seeing a photo, I curious...

Wd 40 does exactly what the mineral oil does, but it penetrates quicker.

Do the mineral oil and wad40 (that's what we used to call it hanging around the bicycle shop) leave the micarta slippery?? It's pretty slick as it is when rubbed with 220. I'd hate to have it get any more so.

give this a try if you get a chance it works on all types of micarta and G-10, I sand to 600 grit and then use bees wax on a soft buffing wheel. The wax melts as you buff and penetrates all the pores, wipe off the excess with an old dish rag, it will stay shiny for a long time. I use this process on all my damascus also and in 5 years never had a rust complaint

No on the oil I use just wipe it on then off
