ive put together an etching machine using a Micronta variable dc power supply and attached wires with alligator clips to it. i just need to find the rest of the stuff to make it. anyone know where i can find it? do you think hobby lobby would have what i need?

Hey Jacob, I just used a 12 volt power supply and two alligator clips, a Q-tip with a little salt and vinegar mixed together and it works fine. Are you talking logo etching or something else?

yup all you need, although some one mentioned using a bridge rectifier. I don't know how this would make a difference.

Hey, didn't you just toss a computer? The power supply makes a dandy etcher. Just use your voltmeter to find the 12V leg......even the 5 V leg works..

I didn't use a rectifier, is that so it doesn't wreck the power supply? I have about a jillion of the things and they're always about 25 cents at garage sales so I don't even worry about ruining them.

If you are starting with a DC power supply, there is no need for an additional bridge rectifier.

A bridge rectifier is comprised of 4 diodes. It will convert AC current into rough DC.

It sounds as if you are using a plug pack. Simple, cheap, effective. Available at the Salvation Army store, Goodwill
garage sales..
