Got myself a Perrin. Very nice knife. Balance is great making it fast in my hand. It immediately got into my EDC rotation.
The sheath...
Overall design (looks) is good. It rides very well on my belt but the sheath is too big for the knife (as many before me has reported). I would like to carry it differently but I can´t because it isn´t secure enough. I thought Perrin made fighting knives and not "garden knives" that you should have to pamper. The knife itself doesn´t have any problems (that I have noticed sofar) BUT together with a poor sheath it becomes a second rate defense product.
Does anyone have a quick fix (I read the quick fix TOTC posted) that explains how to change the Kydex (concealex) without adding stuff?
1. Can I heat it up with a hairdryer and press gently on the sheath to make it tighter? If so, where do I press? Along the back of the blade on the sheath or do I put pressure on the whole blade? Is it enough to do two or three indentions on the sheath in the middle of the blade instead of pressing the full length of the blade? Anyone out there that know one or two things about sheaths? (I´m quite handy).
2. Has anyone tried to heat and mold the sheath a bit more into the choil of the knife with good results retention wise?
The small "dots" that hold the knife are just... pitiful. Harsh words, sure. But I´d rather save 10 bucks and get a cheaper knife without a crappy sheath order one from Normark or any of the other great sheath makers out there.
Yeah, I could order one custom sheath directly but then I would feel ripped off one sheath. Not very logical but that is how I feel.
