I think most anyone's time is worth more than 1/2" of steel.
Your piece of steel will cost more then 500 $ in Damasteel . I can calculate how much will cost half inch ;) And if I see good in your picture you need 22mm drill bits or good quality Cone step Drill Bit ....Nevermind , I just gave a suggestion how can be done this , just as you do :thumbsup:

It's just how I would do it of course. I doubt that 1/2 of a 7/8" circle will be missed in the grand scheme of things.

Plus if you are making more than one you can line things up so that you can drill one hole and get two recesses out of the deal!

Ok smartypants, now ya gotta show us how....:)
It is so easy ......You start with one inch thick steel and grind and grind and grind that steel till you get this :p
I'm sorry , I do not have pictures anymore from that knive in this comp... But they exist on blade forum , here in this section ... I will look for them

how did you get the recess in the scale?
If you think on recess where is that steel part , I use tube from which I cut this steel , I just wrapped sandpaper and carefully sand to get as much I can symmetrical both scale... For recess on scale /for weight removal/ I use my Dremel with sanding drums
