The best I can tell it is close to either 1536 or 1137, both are Oil quenched after proper soak at 1500-1550 or 1550-1600. I am milling hardie tools out of this metal as a Machine Tool Class project. 1550 common to both was The direction I was headed. This a good Plan???
Thanks

That's a 1536 [ 1137 is a free machining grade with high P and S ,not a good choice for forks] .It's interesting to see Ce in there and Cr is high if a trace element. Use 1500-1550 F....I thought blacksmiths forged hardie tools !

Thanks Mete Any thoughts on tempering them??
I am learning the vertical mill, the two cut off's and the two fullers have been fun to learn on. As for being a blacksmith, I have forged one blade outta 0-1 rod and a hawk outta a RR spike, that's it The Lord only know what a mess It'd make trying to forge tools. That will come though!
