How to improve this blade

I profiled this knife out and have been working on filing the bevels but there is just something about blade shape that I don't like and I can't seem to put my finger on it. The handle is good but everytime I look at the blade it just doesn't seem right to me. I could use some input.

I like the blade. also like the handle. Off the bat I would say where the edge meets the handle kinda turns me off. To fit with the blade better, it seems it should be more angular. maybe you could do something wild there.

That's just my opinion. If you really love the look of that part of the blade than I wouldn't don't change a thing!

I make lots like that .All I would do is where the ricaso is at the finger gaurd square of the round pieceto align with the blade the knob doesnt look right. JMHO

It could be just the pic but honestly, the blade doesn't seem to 'flow'. To my eye, the point almost looks too low and the cutting edge seems to have a slight corner in the belly instead of a nice smooth curve. Not much you can do to raise the point without shortening the blade a bunch. But smoothing the cutting edge curve should be pretty easy. I also don't like the round knob by the finger groove.

Your handle shape looks very nice though and you're doing pretty good shaping things. I think it will all come together for you. Just my suggestions, not necessarily right.

Edited to add, the point height might be fine but looking again, I think that I would either round the top corner on the clip of the blade to make a spearpoint or else sharply define that corner on the clip. Right now it looks like it's just kind of in the middle of the two.

To me the tip looks like a triangle that you stuck on the end of a decent blade/handle. It's too pointy and angular for my taste. I prefer flowing curves. You've got a nice curve started flowing from the spine of the handle into the blade, but the angular transition just interrupts it. Same thing for me on the edge side of the blade. A smooth belly looks much nicer in my opinion.

Of course, that's just MY style and how I see things. There is nothing wrong with something different that what I like. Keep that in mind, and make the knife look good to YOUR eye.

Square up the plunge line with the spine, and it will look fine. You generally want the plunge line to be perpendicular to the spine, or parrallel with the handle / guard.

The problem I see is that the point is not one style or the other. First, make the curve along the edge even...no angles. Second, decide if it is a drop point or a spear point....and make it one or the other.

On the next balde, I would lift the tip a bit and round the edge curvature. Since the blade is already shaped, all you can do at this point is fix the edge curvature situation.

This is how I see it as well. If you want something pleasing to the eye, the lines should sort of flow together and the curves should be graceful, not angular. I would personally just work on the curves a bit, but other than that, it's a nice knife.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to work on changing the profile today and then I put an updated post up.

ok. I removed the angle on the spine and edge of the blade and also tried to bring the point up a bit. It looks more like a drop point now and I think I'll continue on the bevels. thanks for all input on this.

That looks better. Good job and keep us posted on the progress.

My personal opinion would be to make the lines smoother and more arched.... You have kinda done that by the looks of your second pic.... but i already doctored this one

Rick read my mind. Take the slight hump off the back and it will give it the look of bringing the point up. It does look like a great start.
