How to keep leather sheath nice and supple

Huh. Never thought of using Ren Wax on sheaths - that's a new one for me. Will have to try that.

I don't want my sheaths to be "nice and supple". A knife sheath has three very important jobs... to retain the knife, and to protected the knife, and to protect the user from the knife.

I find that very soft sheaths sometimes won't hold onto the knife securely. And a stiff sheath will do a better job of preventing cut throughs or injuries caused by falling on the knife.

I like hotwaxing, myself, I like the look and I like the way the knife ends up fitting.

I know a lot of hockey players rub shaving cream into the palms of their gloves to keep them supple. The shaving cream MUST contain lanolin though. Might be worth a look, though i'm not sure how well it would work for your application.

melt BEESWAX 95% and Obenuafs 5% ratioo in a double boiler, drop the sheath in and let it soak. take it out and fling off the excess hot wax mix and wipe down the sheath with a rag. Waterproof and treated.
