How to keep my Tenacious sharp

Hi all,
I sent a message to spyderco asking how to use the Sharpmaker to touch up my Tenacious. I'm compulsive about keeping my knives sharp so I touch them up after I use them because I'm not all that great at really restoring the edge if they get too dull. So I'll ask my question here:
Which angle should I use on the sharpmaker to touch up my tenacious after I use it so it stays as sharp as it is now? I figure since the sharpmaker is made by spyderco and so is the tenacious, then they can tell me exactly how to sharpen my knife. So, that's my question.
Thanks,
Gray

Just use the 40-degree bevel like the instructions say. ;)

Hi Gray,

All of my knives that are 8Cr13Mov (PE Tencious, PE byrd Meadowlark Rescue (modified to Wharncliff), PE/SE byrd Wings, CE Cara Cara) steel get sharpened at 40 degrees. I do back bevel every tenth sharpening to keep the edge relatively thin. I tried one plain edge knife with this steel at 30 (aka backbevel) degrees and I wasn't pleased with the edge retension, so I made the change back to 40 (aka edge bevel) for my primary edge bevel.

This steal is pretty easy to sharpen and will polish nicely if you choose to take it that far.

Hope you enjoy your Tenacious and Sharpmaker.

Doug
