How to keep the blade clean while putting handle on

I use newspaper and electrical tape. Harbor Freight sells 10 rolls pretty cheap, like 6 coconuts.

Well I never cease to be amazed at what I learn here. I'm quick to slap blue tape on a blade to prevent getting cut as well as to protect the blade from scratches and sure enough sometimes when I peel it off there is ugly stuff going on.

The adhesive in masking tape is acidic and will react with your blade if left on too long. I just wipe a coat of WD40 on the blade, fold in a blue shop towel and wrap everything in electrical tape.

Lol. Humor is, unfortunately, regional. In New England, where I grew up, saying something that is so absurd it could not be taken reasonably is recognized as being a joke. When I went to New Mexico, trying to joke in that way practically got me killed. Go figure.

I read somewhere this stuff works good to protect a blade. I've used it a couple of times and it does seem to protect pretty good, and peels off easy with no marks left. https://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B0006SU3QW/

I also like the idea of teflon tape - might try that also.
