I'm making an O1 steel Camp/Bushcraft knife from scratch, check it out!

I'm covering the entire process from a bar of steel to the finished knife. This part covers day one of the process in which I go from the bar to a heat treated and profiled blank ready for bevel grinding and scales. I'm using basic knifemakers equipment and try to give some tips along the way.

I hope this helps some of you out, feel free to ask any questions you have and i'll do my best to answer! I'm working on part two today so stay tuned for more.

Haha, sweet man, it's been forever since you've done any sort of WIP video like this.

Man I wish you'd get a very cheap tripod, I wanna watch you actually make the knives! :D You can even just make a small camera "stand/holder" by putting a small bolt through the lid of a cleaned out plastic peanut butter jar, (using the same bolt size that will screw into the bottom of your camera), and then fill the jar with some rocks to keep it stable and BOOM! ya now have your own mini camera stand that you can set on a stool or a work bench etc. while having it pointed at you doing the work ;) . If ya don't like being on video, just keep it at a level that only shows your neck and below. I'm a bit self conscious, expecially on camera, so that's what I've done in my past vids.

It would be a lot less stressful than trying to film with one hand and grind and quench a blade with the other lol! :p I'd love ya see a vid where you show all of the procceses, even the grinding, then boring hand sanding etc. Those smallest details can give a great insight into the way another great maker (such as yourself  ) goes about making his knives, showing even the slightest intricacies and nuances of the techniques and ways of another maker can actually reveal quite a bit I always learn a lot from vids like that! There can be one of those, "wth didn't I thinkk of that!?" moments lol.

Anway, looking forward to seeing how that turns out. If you want me to take a picture of the small camera stand I made so it makes sense, I can.. Just let me know and I'll post it right here for ya. :encouragement:

Thanks Paul, I really appreciate the honest and helpful input! I think I'll add a segment on the actual profile grinding. I have a tripod but I'm using a nice Nikon camera to record with and don't like having it around the grinder. I'm going to figure something out with the camera soon...

Nice! Thanks...
Much appreciated, glad to help.
