How to make hiking trip more enjoyable for the Mrs.

Good point here.

Especially on the first backpack or first hike, choose an easy destination:
not too far and not too much altitude gain or loss. Keep packs as light as
possible. Occasionally ask about how she is doing. Ask specifically about
blisters. Let her take the lead on some parts of the trail, and watch how
she is walking; it can tell a lot. Look for any kind of limp or other oddity.
also keep in mind that if you are at high altitudes amke sure she eats. the altitude makes you think you aren't hungry. hungry girlfreind in the back country is not good. because it is your fault.....:D

First, pick an easy trail. The strip in LV is a ladies favorite. There is plenty of chow along the trail, There are plenty of places to bed down as well.

I'd like to put some extra emphasis on the baby wipes.

The first time I took my wife out I not only forgot the baby wipes, i forgot TP entirely. She had to use a cliff bar wrapper........which she still talks about 3 years later.

AMEN! If it goes wrong it is your fault. The end!:

Since my wife was born and raised on a ranch it's getting her indoors that tough. She would 100 times rather be outdoors than indoors.

I'm not an expert on women, but if I had to guess I'd say the only thing worse than making her "cleanse herself" with a "cliff bar wrapper" is telling all your buddies on bladeforums about it. For your sake, I hope she doesn't read this thread.:eek:

When my wife and I hit the trails or go camping, she just needs to know that she is needed. I give her duties of her own. She doesn't like being treated like a "girlie girl", she likes to hold her own. She's HUGE on taking pictures of us, the baby, and the dog, so I ALWAYS make sure I take time for that and she's happy!

Do the walk the day before and hide her handbags and shoes along the way thus giving her some incentive to finish the hike and keep up her interest !!!!
