The original thread was closed by Spark, who is the owner and administrator of Bladeforums. Opening another thread because you were disappointed he closed that one is not a great idea. I'm locking this. Drop the subject.
 
You can purchase paper wheels for sharpening and stropping. They sell them at Jantz and Im sure other places. They work quite well.
 
I got a set of 2 3/4" wide 8" cardboard wheels from Grizzly (G5937 8" Razor Sharp System) for like $34. Came with extra grit and wax for the smooth "grinding" wheel and a chunk of rouge fro the slotted polishing wheel. that and a cheap grinder and your in business. I love it
