How to make the first one memorable?

I'm going to buy my first CRK, a large Sebenza 21. To make it truly a memorable experience, can it be bought directly from CRK at the Blade Show (also my first)? Any chance of getting the box autographed? Other ideas or sources for this first one?

Thanks.

You can ask Chris if he would tie the lanyard for you. Think of it as an "icing on the cake" kind of thing. He may even appreciate it if it was mentioned to him as such.

I just received my first and it hasn't left my pocket while awake, well aside from usage that is. :D

There's an idea, Bill. Thanks. I'm hoping I can actually buy the knife at the upcoming Blade Show, but I'm not sure whether from CRK directly or one of their dealers.

I bought my first Sebenza soon after my dog, who was my best friend died. Therefore it made sence to me to get th exclusive dog paw graphic. They will sometimes do custom graphics, so maybe you can custom order something that means a lo to you.

I am not sure what stock they bring to Blade(having never gone), but from what I hear they have some really nice stuff.. I think you would have a pretty good shot at getting him to sign your box. I just bought back a knife I had previously owned and 1 of the owners took it to Blade 2013 and got the box signed. It was a little surprise bonus on my re-purchase.

Thanks again to our member that made that re-purchase possible.

My advice to make your first Sebenza memorable is maybe from a different angle: Carry your first CRK (whatever it is) for as long as you can. Don't rush out and buy more right away when you see how awesome it is. Then you will have a 'relationship' with that CRK that more special than subsequent ones.

Also, I agree with your choice for a starting point. The Large 21 is a great place to start and is a knife that you will not find fault in. It is built to please all (or at least most) knife aficionados and lovers of well designed tools. I still love my first 21 and carry it often.

I would for sure pick one up at blade if you are lucky enough to go! Chris signed a box for me a couple of years ago, I bet he would be willing to do it again and that makes for a nice keepsake:thumbup:

I've carried my first and only small sebenza 21 for 3 months now and it's been and still is fantastic! To be able to carry this amazing knife is an honour and is in itself truly memorable.

Just call the shop and I bet Angela can get Chris to autograph a box for you if you order something you really want. Sometime he'll autograph a blade for a few bucks, or he used to - don't know if he will anymore but you can ask.

I think they will be happy to accommodate you. Talk to Anne, she'll get him to do it.

It was even easier than that, I just asked him. He said "Sure", and signed it while we were talking Sebenzas in general. Then I asked the rest of the crew that was there. If Lisa and Heather had been there, I'd have asked them too.

Lisa, Heather, Anne, Angela...how can I learn who these folks are & how to contact them? Thanks.

Anne is Chris's wife and partner
Liza is a long term employee and does those cool Unique graphics you see
Heather another long term employee who has headed up the customer service for years.
Angela I believe is also from customer service
They very well may do other jobs as well.

Just walk up to the CRK booth and say Hi. Pick out your knife, and ask if they'll autograph the box for you once you get it.

I asked him if I could take this pic of him holding one of my older UG's he happily obliged. Even told me a little about the knife itself...

Thanks, LW...one last question. I plan to buy a plain, large 21 with a double thumb stud. Is that going to make the knife a "special order," or is it likely that CRK comes to Blade with some of those?

Thanks again.
