How to not wear deoderant for the rest of your life...

Mike,

Do a small test with each essential oil to make sure your not sensitive to it. Then go for it. You can get rid of a lot of this stuff in the spray. It is just what we use at our house.

Actually, I find that just the Crystal stuff works for me.

Concur with the difference between Antiperspirant and deodorant. Well put.

Shecky, you should do so well. Tal, you done good.

And Tal, thanks for the post. An interesting formula.

There are reasons my professor won't let me cite Wikipedia in my essays. ;)

But I agree, they certainly should be understood. For what they are and what they are not. You're at a lot more risk from something you make yourself rather than something made by a large corporation like Procter and Gamble.

I would like to know what scientific data you have to support the comment about Proctor and Gamble..and if they wrote the data?;)

I havnt used deodorant for 3 or so years..I just spray on mineral salts...I have zero BO, unless I go for a few days. Aluminum is bad for you...period.
I should stress that I believe ANTI persperant is much more harmful than deodorant.

Huh, that Crystal stuff is interesting, might have to give it a shot. I don't really care about the aluminum thing, since I will probably do something stupid that kills me before I have to worry about forgetting...wait, what were we talking about again? :)

I would just really like to stop staining my expensive Icebreaker and the like shirts with antiperspirant goo. I'll have to give that Crystal stuff a try and see how it does.

My wife has breathing difficulties and deodorants bother her so I haven't used anything under my pits for six years. Amazingly I don't usually smell after work.

My body had a weird reaction to antiperspirants. Since I was about 12(now 22) I have used antiperspirants, but the last six months my pits were sweating like crazy. About an hour after getting out of the shower and putting on antiperspirant, I would have a sweaty pit area on my shirt about 6 inches in diameter. Even just sitting around, I could feel sweat rolling down my ribs....non stop. Changing brands didn't do anything. Then one day I ran out and didn't have time to grab a stick before work, and within 24 hours my excessive sweating stopped. I have since switched to plain ol deodorant and now only sweat when active...weird

bodies act weird sometimes. all of the chemicals in the environment can't be good for us. I know for myself that most air fresheners will give me a severe headache within seconds, "natural" smells don't bother me at all, (but that may the the rural up bringing)
Alcohol kills bacteria by creating osmotic pressure and bursting the cell. so there is pretty much no way for a BACTERIA to be resistant totally some just take longer than others, and there may be some viruses that can withstand it, who knows.
I also avoid things like febreeze, I just don't like to breath anything other than a nice mix of O2, N2, and CO2 with trace other gasses, be it industrial smoke, cosmetics, or anything else, pleasing or not.

Hey tf, sup?

First, you don't change your underwear, now you don't use deodorant, what next, saving on toilet paper? My god, man, have you no shame?

If not for yourself, think of the kids!!! Not to mention your wife. If she turns her head 90 degrees CCW, her life will be the 'pits!'

Where did we go wrong............... :( :(

Doc (smelling like a rose ;) )

Hey Moving Target, sorry about that - I didn't see the 2nd page of posts when I posted. Unintentional copyright infringement. :o

Doc,

I am a philosophy professor - don't I have a reputation to uphold? Name the last normal philosophy professor you knew...

i tried the salt once but my pits were worse with pit stain ring so i went back to the old deoderant with alum. hate the stains and possible atzheimer but maybe i should have tried the salt for a longer period? what do u think?

Uggh - I have been so unlcear. I meant to say that one bottle lasts about 6 months - and the crystal lasts about one year!

Spooky, I think the same is true for any antibacterial stuff - Lysol or Alcohol.

Shecky,

Here is my wife - proof that I don't stink that much!

Dang dude, how tall are you? Look about 6'6" in that picture!! Very pretty wife, you are a lucky guy.

Daily shower is enough for me. No soap necessary. There's enough chemicals in the water! Once a month or so I might use shampoo. Nobody has ever accused me of being dirty. Quite the contrary. The natural oils in my hair keep it looking healthy.

As long as I eat whole, natural foods, my pits don't stink. It was only when I ate fast food and processed food I had BO.

Toothpaste is overrated as well. Brushing with water is sufficient for me. I admit. Once in a while toothpaste is a treat. There's sugar in there!

I don't understand what all the hype is about; whether it's advertised products or health food shop shelves, who really needs it? Gimmicks have been around for a long time in the United States of America. Tonics were sold to "cure" anything!
