How to Please?

Could someone please tell me how to clean a wet stone?
I believe Thrombrogan said you could use wet dry sand paper.
What grit would work best?

Hi Armilite! What happened to your whetstone? Is it steel dust? Oil?

If it's just steel dust, dry the stone out and put some 220 grit sandpaper on a hard, flat surface. Rub the whetstone over the sandpaper until it's flat (make a light grid on the face of the stone with a pencil and when it's all gone, the stone will be flat and should be clean as well).
