I just scored a sweet hand-forged hawk. Was given a great deal on it (practically free) by a gentleman out of gratitude for my showing him some good locations to bear hunt here in North Ga. Balanced great, love the handle, but it's showing some hammer marks that I'd like to polish out to some extent. This will end up being a Christmas present for my 11 yr. old son. What's the best way to smooth this thing up some?

Die grinder with a scotch bright pad, preferably a 45 degree air operated one if you have it-if not bite the bullett and start sanding,I use it all the time to polish the face's of my hammer's
