What are some good methods for preventing rust under the wrap where the steel cannot be seen or reached from the outside?

Thank you in advance, this place is great!

Wipe it down with acetone then cover it with grip tape.

Or you can do an under wrap with gutted paracord or nylon twine and give it an epoxy coat and when dry wrap over that.

I also have powder coated the tang and wrapped over it.

But you can always primer and then spray paint the tang as well.

Heck on a few blades I even use truck bed spray liner for the tang.

All of them are designed to stand up to the elements and prevent rust.

That is a very cool idea. The stuff is indestructible and couldn't be easier to work with...as long as you don't get any on anything that you want to be Not Black.

Thanks for all the advice, I think I will look at bed liner first, then epoxy and as a last resort, primer and paint.

Any other advice?

Thanks again.

Some like to have a cord wrapped handle not be permanent or want the cord to be soft. If this is the case, use turtle wax or any auto body wax. I do this to all my knives for rust prevention instead of oil!!
