I believe if I pay for GOLD I can post an ad, correct? I'm new to the board and just wondering how people generally price their knives for sale? I've got 4 knives LNIB that have been opened in the house but never carried or used to cut, just wondering what a fair price would be for each of them would be. Like for example, a percentage off what they can be bought from online? Just making sure I don't over price or under price but want a quick sale. Thanks. (Feel free to move this if it's in the wrong section)

You will need to purchase a minimum of a Gold membership to sell anything (well worth the $30.00)

As far as posting your knives, two things:

Be 100% honest about everything. (Pretend you're the buyer, what would you want to know?)
Post a lot of pictures.

Price is totally up to you. You can either see where the market is at for similar knives by checking out the exchange, or you can put a number up that you feel comfortable letting them go at.

I just haven't been here long enough to see what people post things for. I was hoping there was a rule of thumb on a general percentage discount from what they can ( could ) be bought for online.

There is no "rule" when re-selling anything. You can price it at whatever you like.

You need to take a few things into consideration:

The strength of the market.
The desirability of the knives you are selling.
The availability of the knives you are selling.
How fast do you want to sell them? (The farther from retail, the faster they sell)

You're on your own man, you need to balance what you feel is a good number for you with a number that will attract attention and sell the knives.

Follow the For Sale Forum you'll be using to get a feel for the price. 20% below New would be a good range to start. An eBay search for Sold items can give you an idea of the value. Clear pictures, honest accurate description, centering is important to most, 1 price shipped does the job factoring PayPal Goods and Services fees.

With a Gold Membership you can ask questions about the value of your item.

Personally I like to sell and move quickly so I'll post in the sweet spot where buyers don't want to think too long or someone else will buy it.

Best way to determine is to search up your knives and see what they are selling for everywhere else. Stores and on ebay. From there you can decide whats worth it for you.

Thanks for posting this Shane. I will follow to see if I can learn something.

You might want to use the BF search feature to see if the same knives you own have been sold here. If you are lucky, the poster might not have deleted the price. Keep in mind that the seller might have accepted a lower offer from the buyer.

Fair Market Value is defined as what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to accept. That being said, I price my knives based solely on what I'm willing to accept for them. If I can't get my minimum acceptable price, then I either keep the knife or gift it to a friend or family member.

Another point, many of us ONLY buy knives from authorized dealers (AD's, NOT from Scamazon or Fleabay - too many fakes out there) or from other BF members who do the same. So when I'm pricing a knife, I consider the original price from an AD, and I could care less what someone says they can get it for on one of those other sites.

Concisely said by JR88FAN, exactly...
