Hey all here is some info on how to read TTT curves or otherwise called Isothermal Transformation curves. It is an ASM International publiction and I hope it sheds some light on the subjuect.

HeHeHe, no I don't have the book.

ASM was running a free demo at one time for their online standards and info so I signed up and downloaded like a mad man.

Check out their website, they might still be doing the trial thing.

Good stuff Sean, thanks for posting that. I got copies of all or most of that article at school, its good to have around.

For anyone interested in a better understanding of this stuff, I suggest you get an iron carbon phase diagram (lots of results on google) to go along with the info Sean posted. The TTT curve is kind of like the second half of the book on heat treating. The phase diagram shows you the first half of the story,when you heat the steel, and should make it easier to understand what happens when you put the process in reverse and accelerate it :cool:
