Just got my first BRK, a Pro-scalpel, and the logo is a bit smudged and there even seems to be a faint 'ghost' of some other printing below the logo. Is their writing ink or etched? And does anyone know how to remove it without damaging the blade?

It's etched and I've never figured out how to remove it completely.

Even with polishing and patina, there is still a ghost left on my blade.

Just use it. When the edge chips, they will regrind your blade and BAM! No more writing on the blade!

(I am kidding! Please don't flame too hard! Jokes!)

I buffed a barkie on a 6 inch buffer wheen with green compound on it and the logos were only visible at a very specofic angle

Thanks for the info. I don't have a buffer wheel, but that at least gives me some hope there is some way to do it.

I'm tempted to just send it to BRK and ask for a replacement. The edge grind near the ricasso is also rather sloppy. It should never have got past QC.
