I'm having troubles getting it flat, and both at the same angle.
I did the usuall start at 45 degress on both sides and push it back that I use for flat grinds. but cant do it evenly, I'd like to blame the 1 inch grinder. Any tips or a general procedure?
also what angle should I be going for?

Do you scribe your lines? If so you should be able to calculate the proper angle for the blade width and grind height.

I think Dan Koster goes 12.5 degrees per side on his bushcraft which is around .125" thick.

alright, Think I'll just go back to a file jig. Going to end up with a fillet knife If i don't get it right soon.

Munky, I cheat a little when doing scandi grinds.

I take a block of wood or micarta and grind in a 12* bevel on it with a disk. I use that as a push stick. I hold the blade tight against the block and grind down to the centerline. Makes it pretty easy to get your grinds flat and even on both sides.

Walter, thank you!

This worked perfectly for the flat parts. Just have to fix the belly now. I'm almost embarrassed I didn't think Of something so simple. Perfectly flat!.except for a spot where I burned myself and pushed it into the grinder a bit along the top :o

I'm excited that I can bust out 5 of these in a day now :D
