How to select rivet size? Smaller than thickness needed?

Ebb, I knew what ya meant! :)

Got the blade and scales ordered from TKS yesterday, ordered the clip and a few other things from Tandy today. Now I play the waiting game lol.
 
I've used quite a few of those on request, I prefer not to use them though, the mounting style they require is inherently weaker than the other clips. Essentially a strip sewn on either side of the clip. They do have great retention as the bottom of the clip has a J bend, you really have to work at it to get them off your belt.

The circle stamped in there is for stiffening, the clip wont flex in the flat, only at the bend. It supposedly makes it easier to remove the rig from your belt, I am not convinced.
 
The one I used was their small length rivet.

The leather compresses, so the rivet should be a bit shorter in socket than the leather.

The Tandy leather clips I just got were much thicker and much heavier than the last set I used. I was impressed.

The Black coated ones are great.
